Micro irrigation is the sweet spot between overhead (which wastes too much water) and drip, which -- through very conservative -- makes for wet and dry spot in your garden. As a consequence, if you plants happen to be growing where there's an emitter, they'll grow as though in a pot even through their planted.
Micro irrigation on an automatic timer handles the daily watering, so you don't have to worry that you'll accidentally kill your plants. You can leave town for the week or the weekend and not bother asking neighbors to water.
Micro irrigation installations typically cost $300 to $600 if we install for you, but another option is to DIY - but without the headache of a trip to Lowes & Home Depot where you'll spend 6 hours trying to figure out what parts to buy only to realize they don't have what you need. :) Here's a video to show you the basics.
Our micro irrigation system runs from a simple hose faucet, where you'll install a splitter (so you'll still have access to your hose when needed). Then, it travels under ground, and pops up in your beds, where you'll connect the micro sprinklers to the mainline.
For your micro irrigation project, you'll need:
- a timer-assembly, which includes brass vacuum seal breaker, brass y-valve, battery-powered hose-bib timer, 3/4" swivel connector, 3/4" male threaded to poly insert, an end plug, and two 3/4" clamps
- 3/4" poly tubing to run from the hose down into the ground, across the yard, up into and down the length of all your beds
- Micro Sprinklers, which are pre-assembled with 3.5' x 1/4" tubing + a 2ft pvc riser
- You may also need extra Ts, 90s, end-plugs, extra sprinklers, and 3/4" clamps depending on the complexity of your project.
If you're unsure about what you need, feel free to sketch your garden with general measurements (including distance to your nearest hose), and we help you determine your needs.
